Hillside House
Balmoral, 1998
An existing cottage was demolished to make way for a new 4 level, 5 bedroom luxury residence with indoor swimming & spa pools and basement garaging for 4 cars. The steeply sloping property enjoys expansive views of Sydney harbour towards the heads. The design concept of the house took clues from its hillside and harbour setting in its stepped wave shaped facade. PFA also undertook the interior design of the house including sourcing and importing marble, furniture and furnishing from Asia and Europe.
Pavilion House
Lane Cove, 2005
An existing 2 bed brick and tile cottage was totally transformed with a large open plan extension at the rear and conversion of the existing roof into an attic room. A 2 1/2 storey pavilion was designed at the rear to accomodate a new rumpus room, loft study, kitchen and family room with balcony. The pavilion was designed to marry in with the attic conversion to seamlessly join the old with the new. The interiors are light and airy due to the high catherdral ceilings and gable window wall, and the bifold doors to the family areas allows the inside to open up to the outdoors.
Nest Apartments
Crows Nest, 2008
An existing single storey restaurant was redeveloped into a mixed use building contained a 2 level restaurant/commercial area and 5 exclusive full floor 3 bedroom apartments. The narrow 7.6m wide property presented a design challenge for the project especially in the provision of the required onsite car parking. The car parking was resolved with a mechanical car stacking system which lowered cars from a turntable into a conveyor racking system located in the basement. PFA designed the apartments and interiors which features open plan living areas that seamlessly opens (via bifolding doors) to balconies at the rear of the building that enjoys panoramic views of Sydney Harbour.
