The Rise
Subiaco, 2004
Built on a 198sqm, 8m wide block, this terraced style house is an excellent example of what can be designed on a small block. Having only 2 external elevations the challenge was to create voluminous spaces and introduce light into the middle of the house. Habitable rooms are located at the periphery on the north and south, service areas in the middle. Voids create voluminous spaces and create interest for the interior. On the external elevation, balcony voids juxtapose with the solidity of copper colored aluminium panels, creating a layered facade.
