Projects:
New house
Armidale, 2008
This was a house for a client who wished to display their art collection of paintings and sculpture. The site was quite small, on a busy road. The design solution was to create a double height living area, leading to a walled courtyard. Windows and doors are double glazed for acoustic and thermal insulation.
The Michael Hoskins Creative Arts Centre
Armidale NSW, 2009
The firm worked in association with PTW Architects (Sydney) on a major project for The Armidale School. The Michael Hoskins Creative Arts Centre comprises a 200 seat drama theatre, a large foyer for art exhibitions, and drama and art classrooms. The theatre is used for teaching of speech and stage production to students and is also utilized by community theatre and musical groups. Enviornmentally sustainable features of the building include hydronic heating in the foyer floor and radiators in the classrooms, and natural ventilation in the auditorium.
Animal Impound Facility
Tamworth NSW, 2009
The Animal Impound Facility was designed not only to provide a functional animal shelter but also create a welcoming gesture. The administration building features “Armidale blue” brickwork and “fish scale” aluminium cladding.
