Sphere is a medium density residential development on the edge of a rapidly growing sporting, education and medical precinct. The project promotes a mix of residential dwelling types including attached and detached dwellings, and low to medium rise apartments. This family beach house occupies a long narrow site 10m wide x 50m deep across the road from the ocean. Built to the setback controls on all boundaries it is pulled apart in the centre to provide a private north facing courtyard which is sheltered from the prevailing south easterly. The architectural design intent is to articulate and emphasise the verticality of this tall slender residential tower through the repetition of a rhythm of blade walls and the vertical stacking and repetition of glazing and balcony elements in a minimalist strongly sculpted composition within an overall compact vertical form.
