Welsh + Major Architects
Welsh + Major was established as a fulltime entity in 2004. Since then the practice has been involved in a wide variety of innovative projects, with the practice being recognised with various awards in that time. The Partners, David Welsh and Christine Major, have considerable experience in a range of architectural projects spanning residential, educational, large commercial and public buildings. They are also actively involved in architectural education, having both taught at the University of Technology, Sydney. Chris was also an associate lecturer at the University of Newcastle. A State Heritage listed Georgian terrace, our brief was to create a flexible contemporary home that was environmentally responsible that was respectful of its historical context. AIA Greenway Award Winner 2009 BPN Sustainability Award Winner 2009
Fleet Street Residence

An extensive renovation of the ground floor of a locally listed Victorian Terrace, and the insertion of a new Studio building at the rear of the property. RAIA NSW Small Projects Winner 2007
Albert St Residence

Extensive remodelling of a ‘back to front’ terrace, cinserting a new entry, living and courtyard to create a 3 bedroom, 100 square metre family home. Commendation, 2004 RAIA NSW Awards for Single Housing Alterations and Additions
