Redgen Mathieson is a Sydney-based design firm established by longtime colleagues Harlan Redgen and Phillip Mathieson. Our approach to design is grounded in Modernist principles of authentic, timeless design and planning rigour. Central to this philosophy is a strong sense of scale, form and material, and an emphasis on finely detailed spaces built to outlast changing fashions. Supported by a creative and enthusiastic team of architects and interior designers, Redgen Mathieson’s experience stretches across design disciplines to include architecture, master planning and interiors.

BONDI HOUSE
BONDI, SYDNEY, 2009
Located on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, this four level house occupies a narrow infill site, and has been designed to maximise its’ compact 120m2 site and capitalise on views across Icebergs to the beach. The ground level accommodates the entry hall and two bedrooms; one, on the beachside opens onto a courtyard with a cut-out that frames the sweep of the beach, the other opens onto a garden courtyard planted with a stand of bamboo. A marble clad stair leads to the open plan living level with a central kitchen of bronze and dark brown stone. At each end three massive glass panels slide up and down to access light, ventilation and views. To the east, one of the double height openings leads to a terrace with views to the ocean. The Master Bedroom above, leads to a dressing room and spacious marble ensuite. An internal lift connects to a basement level with 2 car garage, laundry, wine cellar, and service areas. A limited palette of high quality finishes are used throughout; white terrazzo, Calacatta marble, American Walnut timber and dark bronze. Externally, the street elevation is dominated by its dramatic glass and white marble facade.
BURBURY HOTEL
CANBERRA, ACT, 2011
The Burbury Hotel is located in Barton, Canberra, a short distance from Parliament House. This 4.5 star hotel houses 100 guest rooms with interiors by Redgen Mathieson. Conceived for the corporate market, the hotel rooms feature dark fabric wall panels, crisp white plantation shutters, and a custom designed carpet. A timber veneer clad box separates the bedroom from the open plan bathroom area and accommodates a built in desk, wardrobes and a mini bar. The vanity is designed as a freestanding furniture element, whilst the shower and toilet are screened by a wall of translucent glass. The hotel public areas incorporate dark timber wall panelling and Gohera limestone floors. The hotel corridors continue the colour palette of the guest rooms with a graphic black and tan striped carpet. The Burbury Terrace on the upper level of the hotel is designed as a multi purpose venue for functions, the hotel breakfast service and as a lounge for hotel guests. The hotel opened in September 2011.
BRIDGEPOINT
CANBERRA, ACT, 2012
BridgePoint is located on Canberra’s Kingston Island and is currently under construction and due for completion in 2012. This multi-residential development houses 35 one to four bedroom apartments and 7 three bedroom lakeside residences with interiors by Redgen Mathieson. A display residence was completed in April 2011 showcasing a double height living space, kitchen, master bedroom and adjacent dressing room and ensuite. European oak is used extensively throughout, including timber flooring, a timber battened ceiling and a finely detailed timber screen to the mezzanine level study. The result is a calm, timeless interior with furniture selected to provide a comfortable, relaxed backdrop to the tranquil lakeside setting.
