Projects:
Dove Place Residence
Richmond, 2015
Designed in conjunction with a local architect, this 3 storey/ 2 bedroom house is situated at the end of a heavily constrained narrow laneway in Richmond, Victoria. The skylights on the angled facade give glimpses of the Melbourne skyline from the living room and master bedroom.
Ada St Residence
Toowong, 2015
Archr Design was engaged to relocate & renovate three 1911 character houses onto new sites. In Toowong, the third heritage house presents onto two street frontages. Original character elements and finishes were maintained, with a large contemporary addition at the rear. Containing the main living areas, the open plan segment juxtaposes against the traditional renovated cottage. Although appearing to have two entrances, one for each ‘house’, both entries converge to a central foyer, unifying the split forms. Placed on a roughly triangular site, the modern part of the home tapers into a terrace at the narrow end, affording views out across Toowong, like the prow of a ship.
Hendra House
Hendra, 2015
Archr Design was engaged to relocate & renovate three 1911 character houses onto new sites. As part of a larger multi-residential project, the Hendra House merges two of the houses into one, maintaining the close relationship the two neighbouring houses built over the last 100 years. Both houses were lifted, with new rooms added sensitively underneath. The materials and finishes were kept consistent with the original upper to maintain the overall heritage aesthetic. An airy, lightweight component unobtrusively joins the houses into a single whole.
