Blackwood Architects
Well known on the Northern Beaches and North Shore of Sydney, Blackwood Architects designs are tailor-made to look and feel good. We work as a team alongside the home owner or business to create buildings of quality, whether for a large or small budget. Blackwood Architects works hard to add value to both built and natural environments. Our first step is to help the owner understand the in and outs of how to get started and then move forward through creative design to get approvals and to a finished building. We’d like to help you take that step.

Projects:
The Stone House
Seaforth, 2008
A new house on a difficult steep sloping block of harbourside land. Barges were used to transport materials. The three level house sits on a dry packed rock podium which blends into the shape of the wooded landscape.
Bulky goods shop and a Church
Beacon Hill and Manly, 2005
A former petrol station site at Beacon Hill was transformed into a new purpose built swimming pool shop and warehouse. The new building provides an attractive one-stop pool supply destination for passing motorists. The shop fits hand in glove with the bulky goods warehouse which opens onto a drive through area and landscaped forecourt. A heritage listed church in Manly has been carefully conserved and restored. The art deco features of the building are respectfully enhanced and added to.
Alterations and additions
Northern Beaches, 2012
A range of new houses plus and alterations and additions built between 1990 and 2012. Each has been individually designed to meet the owner’s requirements and the unique site conditions. The homes all optimise the benefits of sunlight access, thermal comfort and environmental sustainability.
