The project was conceived as a two townhouse speculative development incorporating opportunities in design and material exploration. The form is a simple but well considered response to the existing surroundings, planning restrictions and site orientation. The townhouses were designed as three bedroom family homes, as an alternative to the typical two bedroom townhouses common to the ongoing gentrification of the inner suburbs of Melbourne.

Having lived in the adjoining shed for a number of years, the couple were keen to make the site their long term family home. Building on a flood plain presented a number of issues which resulted in a raised building and associated external areas, providing a viewing platform that extended the already wide vista
