Paul Coffey Architect
Paul Coffey Architects designs buildings for people who are interested in creating great spaces that arise from a collaborative process. With experience in both architecture and construction (carpentry), we are conscious of the costs involved in the construction process and the impact design may have on them. We believe that architecture should be available to and affordable by the wider community. We primarily design by making models, physical and digital, as we find this a very effective means by which to communicate design intent to clients and consultants.

Small House = Big House
Melbourne, 2009
This extension to a Double fronted, weatherboard Victorian house seeks to establish a presence for the new works by directly responding to the existing conditions of the site. Working with the gentle fall of the land and existing building setbacks, the extension balances the need for greater internal space with the desirability to retain a usable back yard. The result is a small footprint that is double height above a new kitchen/meals area and double storey adjacent, where the lounge area sits below a mezzanine over that will be used as a study.
