Projects:
Alderley Square
Alderley, –
Powe Architects have optimised the 1.38 hectare site in central Alderley, delivering a design that captures the highest and best use for its northern and eastern aspects and panoramic views over both the Brisbane CBD and Mt Coot-Tha. The current approval includes more than 6000m2 of retail; 2,700m2 of commercial offices, 212 apartments and close to 700 cars.
Toowong Offices
Coronation Drive, Toowong, 2007
Toowong Offices is a 7,780m2 GFA office building over six (6) levels with carparking for 135 cars in a series of split level basements. The site is generally flat and is situated on the corner of Coronation Drive and Booth Street at Toowong. The building entrance and orientation address this predominant northeast corner of the site and the building has been positioned to take advantage of the views to the Brisbane River and to the Brisbane Inner City. The principal elements of the design have been enhanced by the inclusion of additional architectural embellishments and features and a strong sense of arrival and entry to the building. The contemporary architectural design, strong building elements and finishes of the building reflect the high quality of the development and strongly contribute to the urban environment of the Toowong Village.
Milton Edge
Milton, 2006
Milton Edge is a contemporary residential apartment building incorporating elegant forms and simple materials. These principles are also evident in the recreation buildings and in the approach to the landscaping. The design philosophy was to provide a development that promotes and enhances a lifestyle quality consistent with the Milton area, to take advantage of view opportunities and to make a long lasting contribution to the urban environment. A strong architectural statement has been made with the expressed structure of the balconies and the dominant vertical elements in the two main tower facades. The intent of the sweeping tower roof form is replicated in the Manning Street townhouse roof line. The street frontages are dedicated to private landscaped areas in the form of elevated courtyards. The recesses and projections of the stepping building forms further enhance these private landscaped courtyards and their contribution to the streetscape.
