Sports Pavilion

Red Hill, 2009

The new Red Hill Recreation & Sports pavilion has been custom designed and purpose built to be a contemporary, multiple purpose municipal building. It has been designed to fit into the character and ambience of the Red Hill Show Grounds, to suit a wide and varied range of community user groups and to be a best practice energy efficient building to demonstrate the Mornington Peninsulas commitment towards creating a more sustainable environment. The building consists of the following accommodation: • Approximately 480 square meters of floor space plus verandahs awnings and pavements. • A function room, semi-commercial kitchen and bar. • A meeting room and toilet facilities for the function room • Change room facilities for a home team, away team and umpires. • Cleaners cupboards, interna and external store rooms, secure plant areas and waste management enclosures. This is a multipurpose facility. The needs of all users have been incorporated in to the design. Regular users include Junior and Senior Cricket and Football Clubs. Probus Clubs, the Lions Club, Red Hill Show and Market committees as well as and other regular and casual users.

Historical Guest house

Mt Martha, 2010

The Mt Martha community Centre was originally buit as a guest house in 1891. The property has historical significance and is listed with Heritage Victoria. The works are an ongoing project for WKH Architects. We are currenmtly working on stage 3. Works to date have included restoration and reconstruction of perid detailing, timber fretwork and verandah spaces, re-roofing works and sympatetic modernisation such as insulation and energy efficiency measures. WKH Architects were awarded an “Architectural Excellence” award for ther approach towards the restoration of the building by the National Trust

This house was custom designed as a super energy efficient house. Fearures include: Passive solar design, Active solar design, High levels of insulation Low embodied energy effective cross ventillation LArge rainwater harvesting systems Grid interactive solar power generation, Low maintenance design Double glazed windows Very happy, comforable owners with almost zero energy bills!
