Chris is a regional based registered Architect, with eighteen years of post graduate experience in architecture, throughout regional and rural Australia. He is currently a sole practitioner on the South Coast of NSW Chris has extensive knowledge of the design and project management of community and educational facilities, as well as individual projects, and has developed award winning skills in the implementation of stringent ecologically sustainable design principles.

Charles Sturt University Thurgoona Campus
Albury NSW, 2001
: The Thurgoona campus of Charles Sturt University in regional New South Wales is a model of ecologically sustainable design practice that authenticates the importance, and urgency for, building professionals and owners to accept environmental responsibility for the deleterious impact of buildings on the environment, and is a case study of the successful application of environmental design guidelines to a large scale development in a regional setting, and within a realistic construction budget. Built to house the School of Environment and Information Sciences and the School of Business, the campus is also a centre for the study of environmental issues. Water management systems, landscape, roads services infrastructure, academic offices, a research institute, regional herbarium, specialist teaching facilities, lecture theatre complex, computer centre and residential accommodation were completed in 2000, with a new Student Union building completed in 2003. The site is sculptured by creeks and wetlands, for water collection and treatment, locally native vegetation, windmill and solar collection panels. The buildings are rammed earth, recycled timber and non toxic materials, and feature low energy heating and cooling systems, comprising of natural ventilation, thermal mass, and solar hydronic floor heating and cooling.

Chris has established a business as a sole practitioner on the South Coast of NSW, working on a variety of housing projects for private clients, both in a beach and bush setting. Chris has extensive knowledge of the design and project management of local projects, including development control, ecologically sustainable design, including BCA and BASIX requirements and design for bushfire prone areas. Chris’ professional experience and expertise would lends itself easily to a design oriented approach to projects.
Papunya Tula Artists Studio
Kintore NT, 2007
As Architect for Tangentyere Design, Chris managed the architectural design development, documentation and construction project management for Papunya Tula Artists Studio in Kintore NT, incorporating workplaces for artists and staff into a culturally and climatically appropriate setting in the Central Desert.
