Centenary Wall

St Hilda’s School, Southport, 2012

The Centenary Wall was commissioned as a tribute to the 14,000 plus students and staff of St Hilda’s School since its inception in 1912. The design stemmed from a concept sketch of one of the schools emblems, an ammonite (a fossilized mollusk). Represented as a series of curved brick walls resembling an abstract ammonite in plan, etched stainless steel panels seamlessly hang off the brick wall faces. The spiraling effect of the series of walls allows flow through the space as well as room for pausing and conversation.

Glades Resience

Robina, QLD, 2005

Our brief was to design a contemporary home for a growing family that would appeal to buyers wanting to live at the Glades Golf Course, Robina. The living spaces were grouped around a central courtyard, with a focal Frangipanni tree. Natural basalt floors were laid over the entire ground floor level. External blinds to the north controlled sun and privacy, operable via HPM I-Control keypads.

Turbayne Sports Centre

St Hilda’s School, Southport, 2014

The purpose of this building is to house the tennis administration reception, a small pro shop, as well as to provide covered indoor and outdoor areas for spectators and small student gatherings. Another important function of this pavilion is to provide bathroom amenities for the existing tennis and netball courts in this precinct of the campus. Part of the challenge with the building was maximising the construction cost value for the amenity provided. The internal spaces are housed under a simple and large skillion roof that was designed to have minimum impact on the view from the boarding house behind it as well as when looking up at the building from the netball courts.
