Projects:
The Contemplative House
Surrey Hills, 2003
FREDA THORNTON ARCHITECT The design of these two houses shows Freda’s architectural approach which has deep connections to the Arts and Crafts movement with an emphasis on hand-crafted work, botanic forms, rich colouration, and connection with garden.
Various houses
Victoria , 2011
SIMON THORNTON ARCHITECT Any single project would not indicate the diversity of responses which characterise Simon’s approach to architecture! The work can be understood as an attempt to establish a new architectural paradigm akin to fiction in literature, where overt narratives are employed which are founded on pretence. The examples shown here are the Milk Carton extension, the Gryphon extension, the Lighthouse and the Aqueduct and Tent house.
Strathmore Secondary College
Strathmore, 2011
Since 1993 our office has been engaged by Mr. Ken Harbottle, the Principal of Strathmore Secondary College, and the School Council, to develop a master plan and to design a number of new buildings and the refurbishment of all the original 1960’s architecture. The work includes a Theatrette, Arts Studios, Technology Workshops, Cafeteria, Staff Offices, Classrooms, Drama and Music Building and Gymnasium. Kate Cullity of Taylor Cullity Lethlean Landscape Architects has designed much of the landscape work.
