Auhaus Architecture
Auhaus Architecture is a boutique practice focussing on bespoke architecture founded in 2010 by Architects Kate Fitzpatrick and Benjamin Stibbard. All aspects of each project are considered and designed, from lights to landscape, fixtures to facades. Our projects are driven by a restless search for the idea that captures the essence of site and brief. Each design is a unique reflection of site and client, resulting in architecture that is rigorous and engaging. We are closely involved in all our projects from the initial sketches through to completion.

Bluff House
Barwon Heads, 2013
A new three level house designed for a steeply sloping site backing onto the Barwon Heads golf course. With the upper levels sited towards the rear of the block to maximise views, the house was conceived as a sculpted pathway traversing the site from front to back. The pathway is part built form, part landscape, providing a series of fluid living zones and a continuous dialogue between the internal spaces and surrounding environment. The tapered, curved studio space, landscape entry stair and roof planters evoke the local bluff landscape, drawing you up and into the heart of the house. House at 13th Beach
13th Beach Victoria, 2013
A new house on the 13th Beach golf course. This is a house of brick, a fortification, bunkering into the dunes and protecting against the strong coastal winds. The house is solid and sheltered; the masonry walls encircle and enclose, providing privacy, curated views to the golf course and a protected northern courtyard. The entry slips between two soaring blade walls into a double height space, the void carrying through the living zone and giving the house a heightened sense of light and space within its contained footprint. Moonah House
Barwon Heads, 2012
A new 4 bedroom house located on a heavily treed site overlooking the Barwon River. The design was imagined as a campsite, nestled in and around the existing Moonah trees. The programme is divided into modules which sit as individual pods on the site, enclosed by a lightweight structure that hovers over the top, forming the main living area. This design allowed us to hug the boundaries of the site, enclosing the existing trees in a central landscape. The undulating roof form evokes the Moonah canopy, allowing branches to extend underneath the roof of the outdoor living spaces and drawing the eye into the treetops.
