Kunze & Trigg residences

Boston, 2007

1: Pole framed house on slopy block overlooking Boston Bay and Port Lincoln (completion 2003). Plan has lots of 45 degree walls and interesting angles, as requested by client. Raked ceilings in living area add to the impression of different planes and angles. 2: Split level slab on ground residence with 2nd storey bedrooms, middle level kitchen / dining & lower level rumpus & office. External walls are mostly clad with mini-orb with some feature Kanmantu blue-stone panels. 4 internal boulders provide thermal mass for winter heat collection around combution heater. Design of houses around Port Lincoln generally has to cater for East facing sea views plus the necessity to allow ingress of some winter sun from the north.
