Projects:
Callaghan House
Cammeray, 2008
The original house was a dilapidated double fronted Victorian cottage. The house is a contributory item in the North Sydney Conservation Area Plateau Precinct. The new design removed the back rooms and added a first floor addition with dormers. The house is now classic contemporary with the kids rooms upstairs, parent retreat at the front of the house and large living areas to the rear opening onto the landscaped rear yard and pool. Contemporary Architecture was involved throughout the project, from design, through negotiations with North Sydney Council, then tender documentation, including designing the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms, to organising the contract with Jarvis Constructions and overseeing the construction for the 10 month building time.
Hammond House
Cammeray, 2010
The original house was a dilapidated double fronted Victorian cottage. We removed the back of the house created a new split level back, going down stairs to a large open plan living/dining/kitchen and upstairs to the parents retreat. The design is open and light filled. The rear doors slide back to a screened verandah which leads down to the rear yard and new pool. Contemporary Architecture was involved throughout the whole process, getting it through council, then fully documented for a fixed price tender. Contemporary Architecture designed and documented the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry and all fixed joinery in the house and co-ordinated lighting design. The project was built by Atlanta Builders.
St Peters Anglican Primary School
Campbelltown, 2010
In 2009 the BER package was announced for all primary schools in Australia to receive $3million for halls, libraries and classrooms. St Peters Anglican Primary school approached Contemporary Architecture to work with them to maximise their buildings and gain the best outcome for the money. Contemporary Architecture designed and project managed the co-ordination of a new Multi-purpose Hall, new staff room and three new classrooms. The tender was competitive and was awarded to Gledhill Constructions. The project came in on time and within budget producing a facility that the school will be proud of for many many years.
