Projects:
Gap House
The Gap, Brisbane, 2005
A large house set into an extg cut platform on the side of a steep site. A previous owner of the site had created a platform by cutting into the granite hillside. A central spine divides the house with smaller private spaces to the hill side of the site, and public spaces opening to the view side of the site. The sandstone lined spine re-creates the existing cut into the granite hillside as a planning mechanism. Water features at each end of the sandstone lined spine echo the natural waterflow out of the granite hillside after rain.
Windsor House
Windsor, Brisbane, 2010
A three metre wide by 15 metre long extension along the side of an existing high set timber framed house. The extension creates a secondary circulation zone within the house, mimicking the central hallway zone of traditional houses. Circulation options within the house are expanded, and occur on two axes: perpendicular to the new extension into the rooms of the older house, or along the new extension from front carport through to the cantilevered rear balcony overlooking the rear yard and pool.
Paddington glass house
Paddington, BRisbane, 2006
a “one-plus-one” room extension to the rear of a cavity brick cottage in the midst of a street of timber cottages. The internal space is a general purpose living space, with a similar sized space space repeated externally. Each space borrows from the other to expand its perceived size.
