Kings Cross Hotel
Kings Cross, Sydney, 2008
This extensive refurbishment project involved gutting of the entire building and the demolition of all unsympathetic additions. The new work included fire rated floors throughout, double glazed windows, mechanical and fire protection services, male and female toilet facilities, two lifts and fire stairs. Old paint was removed from the entire facade and the brickwork re-pointed, missing ‘Juliet’ balconies re-instated, the slate roof re-constructed and contemporary lightweight additions were added at roof level and at the ground floor with a cantilevered glass roof over the terrace. Each floor has been fully refurbished, the interior fitout providing a new bar at ground floor, restaurant with outdoor dining, function rooms, two level nightclub and a rooftop cocktail bar under a glass roof.

A new 4 level, contemporary residence with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, formal living/dining areas, study, kitchen and family room opening onto an outdoor entertaining terrace, guest suite & rumpus room opening out to the swimming pool and pool terrace, wine cellar, home gym and 3 car garage. The house incorporates a comprehensive home automation system and each floor is serviced by a lift. Replacing a single level 1970’s dwelling, the project involved extensive ground excavation and piling.
