An Art Deco home was extended to the rear and with the addition of a first floor, taking into consideration the location of the existing pool. The ground floor was reconfigured to include a new study, Ensuite and Walk in Robe, and new open plan family areas. Upstairs included two Bedrooms, a shared bathroom and rumpus, with a verandah overlooking the front garden behind the existing Art Deco Parapet. We retained period features in the front of the existing dwelling, while extending in a Contemporary Classic manner. Shown below are before and after shots.

Hawthorn, 2011

The brief was to extend the existing covered entertaining area, and to divide the existing internal void at the entry horizontally to capture the city views and create a study area. It involved relocating and reconfiguring the stair and the entry. The entertaining area was extended to include a new roof of operable louvres (not installed at time of photographing) and a section which cantilevred over the existing Barbeque.
