Yallingup Western Australia, 2016
This sustainable residence is positioned on a elevated site on a 120 acre property to take advantage of views and cooling breezes and utilises passive solar design with large north facing glazing and glass louvres at height to create a temperate internal clime. The residence is power self sufficient through the use of a 5.5kw photovoltaic system with 14kW generator backup and boasts 550 kiloliters of rainwater storage which is harvested from the roof. It is also serviced by solar hot water system and Chazelle wood fire box providing the booster capability. The fitout has included locally sourced recycled jarrah and sheoak hard wood species which have high natural resistance to white ants. The residence is surrounded by citrus, nut and pomme fruit orchards which are reticulated by large dam that were all laid out to permaculture principles as part of the design brief.
