Northern Beaches Christian School
Terrey Hills, 2015
WMK’s challenge was to reinvent the notion of what a school building should be and deliver an environment that delivers for the client’s far-reaching vision for a new learning paradigm that fosters self-directed learning culture in a dynamic multi-modal environment. WMK’s competition-winning design solution comprises a sequence of multi-level pavilion buildings beneath a spectacular 3,000sqm intelligent living canopy which generates energy, harvests rainwater and cools the spaces below. The pavilions accommodate interactive learning spaces, science laboratory, student support facilities and reception and administration. A separate canteen with treehouse seating forms the centrepiece. Balconies, seating nodes, oversized steps, and timber platforms are all wired for technology and allow for endless configurations for performing, learning and studying. The cafeteria creates a meeting place and the outdoor stage and large screens complete the active, adaptable heart of the school.
Blackmores Campus

On a 25,000sqm greenfield site, driven by leading-edge sustainability design in a campus setting, WMK created a bold, new-generation workplace and distribution centre that embodies Blackmores’ brand and encourages collaboration. Open-plan workspaces merge with a wellness centre, gym, lap pool and communal dining for staff, and flexible meeting areas for training and shareholder functions. The campus integrates cutting edge sustainability in below ground labyrinth cooling, winter gardens, assisted natural ventilation, thermal stacks and eco friendly materials. It has won numerous architecture and sustainability awards.
The Quay

WMK’s competition-winning scheme delivers a dramatic street presence with offering over 3,000sqm of retail on one level, a basement supermarket and 286 contemporary apartments in two towers. The residential towers are distinguished by having different architectural expressions and have been designed in the context of the local city setting and its rich cultural diversity.
