Projects:
Inner-City Federation Residence
Perth, Western Australia, 2004
A single storey contemporary extension was made to a Federation period bungalow located in a heritage precinct of inner-city Perth. The open planned design allowed the original 3 bedroom timber and iron cottage to remain intact while creating a newly renovated home that suits today’s lifestyle. Large concertina doors link the indoor living area with the outdoor terrace and garden, while north facing clerestory windows allow in winter sun, views to the sky and create a large spacious feel to the home.
New Chapel Design
Perth, Western Australia, 2009
A design for a new chapel set within the grounds of an established religious community. The chapel was to become the focal point of the existing campus and helping frame a new inner garden cloistered setting. The building’s design and surroundings were developed over time and included a wider planning proposal for the remainder of the existing site.
WWF Australia Office
Herdman’s Lake reserve, Western Australia, 2005
The WWF Australia office is located adjacent to a wetland nature reserve of Perth. The extension to the office building required a sensitive use of building materials and construction techniques to minimize any possible disturbance to the surrounding natural landscape. The extensions reflected the importance for suitable environmental design in this wetland nature reserve and included elements such as natural lighting and ventilation to the office spaces, low toxic materials and outdoor covered work areas.
