Dock4 is a progressive and responsive Australian architectural practice with Melbourne and Hobart offices. We work across a range of project types and scales, principally in Tasmania and Victoria, including government, hospitality, single and multiple residential projects, mixed use developments and shop and interior fitouts. Rockwall Restuarant
Salamanca Place, Hobart, 2010
Many of the restaurants at Salamanca project their clientele onto the promenade, utilizing them as a vital facade (through generous glazing and street tables). Rockwall inverts this process. With a small street presence, its entrance compresses space, with projecting bar, kitchen and services. Accepting its long, narrow proportions, it excavates haven like spaces from the depths of the building.
Arts Student Access Point
University of Tasmania, 2011
The purpose of the access point is to provide a one stop service for students relating to administrative requirements. The internal alteration located in an existing foyer completed by the Tasmanian Public Works Department in the 1920”s presented an opportunity to reuse existing granite and off form concrete. The use of existing materials and texture with new finishes allowed the new work to connect into the modernist history of the building.
Bonnet Hill house
Bonnet Hill, Hobart, 2009
The house on Bonnet hill is a modest building of 100 sqm on a large open rural site. It is a simple two storey, cement clad box, that sits deep on a north facing bank. The building is permeable from three sides, transferring from inside to outside with ease.
