Marc Dixon Architects is a Melbourne based architecture practice established in 1996. Our main focus has been on residential architecture in suburban, inner city, beach and rural areas. We have also been engaged in a variety of projects ranging from hospitality and retail through to social housing and community based projects. Consideration is given to the notion of dwelling and the effect it has on contemporary Australian design and culture. Our designs are site and client specific with a focus on affordable architecture including solar passive design philosophies.

Lovely Ladies Weekender
Walkerville, 2006
Residential architecture provides the opportunity to explore and develop existing practice philosophies. Our design for this home demonstrates how good architecture is accessible for all. The object finds contaxt through contrast with the adjacent remnant native bush. The shapes and sizes of the fenestration and openings have been considered for solar passive design and views. The orientation and layout of the building has been designed to minimize the building footprint and exploit environmental sustainable design key principals.
Infill Piece
Waverley Road, 2005
The infill piece as an architectural project demonstrates the ability for residential housing to continually evolve its typology. This project is the result of working with unique site constraints where the built form is enclosed on both sides and is backed onto a lane way. The bedroom and bath room areas have been lifted and connected to the ground floor building bulk via a bridge link, to allow movement from the lane to the court yard. This lifting of the building bulk also ensures natural light is passed to the living area and court yard on the ground floor, using environmental sustainable design principals to ensure high quality of design.
