Link House

Competition Entry, 2009

This design of a three bedroom home utilises passive solar principles, low embodied energy, recycled and renewable materials. The house harvests its own water and power, recycles grey water and includes a permaculture garden, enabling the occupants to produce their own food . Strong environmental and design strategies result in a spacious building with a modest total floor area of 135 square metres over 2 levels. The design enables the occupants to engage with the surounding environment by providing direct access to a private outdoor space from every room inside the house. These outdoor spaces create a sense of openess and provide natural light and ventilation, improving the building’s efficiency.

Hamilton House

Hamilton, NSW, N/A

This project is a two storey addition on a compact inner-city block. A small courtyard, located between the existing cottage and the new extension, improves natural light and cross-ventilation to the existing building. The existing living area is converted into a new kitchen, while the new extension houses new living spaces, bathroom and laundry on the ground floor and, main bedroom and ensuite above. A raised timber outdoor living area maximises the usability of the backyard.
