28 apartments:10 x 2 bed / 2 bath,18 x 1 bed / 1 bath. The modern and youthful vertically emphasised design is inspired by the coastal surroundings viewed by the project. The projects non corrosive materials palette accentuates the marine coastal influence, loosely based on the classic ‘beach shack’ aesthetic and coastal feeling eg. Limestone, cedar timber, bright beach side colours, expressed off form white concrete, white powder coated aluminium. All services are concealed from public viewing spaces. The project has been provided with generous parking for its visitors and their residents’ cars and bikes. The residents’ car are conceived in a basement level away from public view. The entrance of the apartments opens to a grand protective canopy that transports the visitors and residents from the footpath and the visitor car park to the wind protected interior space of the lift lobby. The overall design of the plan resembles a series of waves which in turn provides each apartment with the enjoyment of north orientation, cross ventilation throughout the apartments, shared aspect of the beach, its sea breezes and an appreciation of the breaking waves from the ocean.
