Clique Apartments

East Perth, 2016

Prominently located in Wellington Street, East Perth, this proposed residential development aims to establish a respectful, striking presence in the Goderich Street Precinct. It is due to commence on site in January 2015. The design solution is centred on providing a coherent streetscape in a fast developing neighbourhood, creating diverse opportunities for living and working. The building comprises residents’ amenities at Ground Floor Level with apartments achieving view of the city and the river. The result is an architectural language carefully articulated to create a highly textured facade and elegantly proportioned sculptural form. Occupying a prime position in the midst of East Perth’s dynamic residential precinct, the architectural pedigree is clearly evident. Inspired by contemporary Japanese design, the building exterior is a slender, fine grain, highly articulated façade that emphasises the contrast between light and dark, or mass and void. Materiality is a crucial consideration in identity, characterised in the buildings striking lobby. The use of white and dark form, together with natural stone allows for a cohesive architectural language throughout the building.
