We offer advice, design and management services throughout the design and construction process. Bush House
Manly Vale, 2015
My Vale timber home is finally complete! It has been transformed from a modest post war bungalow, into a contemporary family home. Set in a bush fire prone land and backing onto bushland, the character of this home is inspired by the materials of Australian rural buildings and its bushland setting. Robust materials, joyful outdoor spaces, lots of light, managing the hot sun and making the most of the existing modest home; these are the key considerations of this renovation. The changes are mostly external; a new covered outdoor room complete with operable louvres to block the western sun, a significant pool renovation, new outdoor storage for bikes & surfoards & bins, a carport with covered entry into the home, a new colourbond roof to replace the tiles, new entry & front porch, new driveway, new landscaping and a new paint job. Interally, the renovations included a new kitchen, a new kid’s bedroom, some new doors & windows and a new living room fireplace. The consistent use of materials & colours inside and outside ‘ the use of australian hardwoods with a natural finish, sandstone blocks & pavers, textured granite paving, weatherboards, colourbond customorb sheeting, along with ‘monument’ and white, feature orange to accent the chimney breast and front door ‘ combine to create the new character.
Rear & Upper Floor Addition

This californian bungalow in Balgowlah has been transformed into a contemporary family home with a rear extension and upper floor addition. The upper floor addition is designed to be a sensitive addition to a typical single storey californian bungalow. The addition is set back off the street, to the rear of the property and maintains the existing roof pitch and the asymmetrical gables. Given the sloping site, district views to the north east and a north aspect along the length of the home, a north facing roof garden and rear balcony contribute to a more contemporary rear (southern) and side (northern) elevation. The home will features a contemporary rear open planned living area with kitchen / dining / family room opening onto a deck and plunge pool. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms + powder, new kitchen & laundry, two living spaces and a double carport will complete the house. ‘ Michelle Walker architects have been great to deal with. Internal & External Renovations

Michelle Walker Architects Mosman House is a contemporary internal & external renovation undertaken by new owners, to rejuvenate the 30 year old property and make the most of the spectacular water views and courtyard house design. The external works include a new entry and entry canopy featuring natural timber, steel and glass, new balconies & balustrades, new decking and stairs connecting the central courtyard to the upper floor terrace, new external colours and soft landscaping. The internal works include improvements to the teenager bedrooms (new ensuites, robes, soft furnishings), the renovation of the existing staircases, new flooring, guest accommodation and the creation of more family time spaces for music practice & TV watching. ‘Michelle Walker architects were recommended by our builder and were great to deal with. They renovated our 30 year old home with a complete update to modernise it and make it more family-oriented, with significant work internally and externally. The end result is a modern and functional home that we love. Standouts for us were that they really listened to what we wanted to achieve and developed ideas that were creative and practical.
