This extension to an existing farm house was designed to respond to the dramatic and beautiful alpine landscape. The extension provides tranquil internal spaces that take full advantage of passive solar design principles allowing a growing family to live closely with their environment.

The existing Mechanic’s shop was stripped back and converted into a bright, modern gallery space. Clean lines and elegant fixtures and furniture were inserted into the existing building fabric creating an exciting urban juxtaposition.

This country retreat is a holiday residence for an extended family who want to live communally and individually within one structure. The residence is assembled around a communal courtyard garden allowing secluded space within the vast beauty of the surrounding snowy mountain landscape. This project is due to be completed in 2011.
