Projects:
Brisbane Supreme Court and District Court
Brisbane QLD, 2011
Scheduled for completion in time for the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Queensland’s Supreme Court, the new building is a radical departure from traditional court design. It exhibits a remarkable transparency and lightness appropriate to the expression of contemporary justice and to its sub-tropical locale. This 64 000m2 courthouse is being built on the Queensland Place site, bounded by George, Roma and Turbot Streets in Brisbane’s CBD. Project cost is estimated at $600m.
University of QLD School of Veterinary Science
Gatton QLD, 2010
The new School of Veterinary Science for the University of Queensland is a modern, state of the art facility which includes a small and large animal teaching hospital, post mortem and anatomy teaching laboratories, animal holding facilities, a major research facility, as well as administrative accommodation. Architectus were engaged by UQ in 2007 to undertake the design for the relocation of the School of Veterinary Sciences from the St Lucia campus to the Gatton campus.
Canterbury College Junior School
Waterford QLD, 2007
Work with Canterbury College demonstrates the commitment of Architectus to providing quality educational facilities which integrate seamlessly within an existing campus. The new buildings include twelve classrooms with associated administration, library, multi-purpose spaces, and a new main entrance to the school. The buildings are sited to maximise their northern aspect whilst responding to the surrounding context. The generous verandahs are used for the gathering and teaching of students.
