Kensington Residence

An exisiting State heritage listed Villa in inner Adelaide, has been replanned and reimagined as a contemporary family residence. Working to complement the featrures of the existing residence, new additions wrap the rear of the property, and in a contemporary but respectful envelope and expose the evolution of the building through highlighting the original walls and form of the villa.

A sophisticated beach house retreat for a young couple and their family. Perched on the sand hills overlooking Boomer Beach, the experience of the house is subdued from the road. As one moves through the house you aredrawn into a casual living and dining space founded on a base of rock face concrete block and framed with concrete blade walls through which there are mesmorising views of the coast and the storms rolling in off the Southern Ocean.

The culmination of a 10 year bulding programme based on our masterplan of the Preparatory School, the Sports centre sits at theend of a collegiate space that forms the backbone of the transformed Preparatory School which is sited to the south of the main State Heritage listed Administration building for the whole school. Renovations to this northern wing of this building were completed in 2006 allowing staff and administration to relocate and enabling the conversion of former staff areas into the Fredric Chapple Library, the senior school’s main resource hub, completed in 2007. With Sweeping views of theColleges back ovals and an articulated stone and zinc facade, the new library reflects and draws in rest of the school and transforms the traditional introverted Library typology
